Installing WHMAZ Step by Step

WHMAZ ships with a browser-based installer. Budget about fifteen minutes, and have your database details and license key to hand before you start.

Before you begin

  1. Confirm your server meets the requirements — see WHMAZ System Requirements.
  2. Create an empty MySQL database and a dedicated database user with full privileges on it.
  3. Upload and extract the WHMAZ archive into the directory you want to serve it from.
  4. Point your domain or subdomain at that directory and make sure HTTPS resolves.

Running the installer

  1. Visit https://yourdomain.com/install in a browser.
  2. Step 1 – Requirements check. Anything flagged red must be fixed before you continue. Fix it, then reload the page.
  3. Step 2 – File permissions. Directories should be 755 and files 644. The installer will tell you which paths it needs to write to.
  4. Step 3 – Database. Enter the host, database name, user and password you created earlier.
  5. Step 4 – Admin account. Set your real business email address and a strong password. This becomes your administrator login.
  6. Step 5 – Site settings. Company name, site URL, and the Software License section — see Entering Your WHMAZ License Key.

After the installer finishes

  • Delete or rename the install directory. Leaving it in place is a security risk.
  • Set up the cron job — nothing renews or suspends automatically until you do. See Setting Up the WHMAZ Cron Job.
  • Work through First Steps After Installing WHMAZ.

If you chose to install the demo data, remove the demo customer and any demo administrator accounts before you go live.
